Sackett Lake is a 60 acre lake in Thompson, New York. The name Sackett Lake refers to both the lake and the small, family oriented community that surrounds the lake. The community is about 4 miles from Monticello, New York in Sullivan County. The area has increased in both residential and visitor populations due to the beauty of the lake and its community.
Residents and visitors of Sackett Lake have access to a public beach as well as availability to fish for largemouth bass, pan fish, walleye and northern pike. The majority of the homes in the community are within walking distance of the lake, beach and hiking trails. Many of the homes are comfortable cottages that back up to a scenic wooded area as well as easy access to the lake. Since the 1960’s when the lake community was formed, the community has undergone several changes, however, the lake front cottages continue to be available for year round living or a quick retreat from the city.
Residents new to the Sackett Lake area with school age children will find there are excellent schools for children from preschool age to high school. Shopping is within close proximity to the community as is a variety of entertainment. A variety of fun, family oriented festivals are held several times throughout the year. Near Sackett Lake is the popular Catskill region of New York. The Catskill region is no longer just a popular vacation spot, more permanent residents are coming to the area as well as a vast array of new shopping centers, restaurants and casinos.
